Meet the Teachers

Megan Coughlin has an Associates of Arts and a Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education. This is her second year at Zuni Elementary. She enjoys using technology in the classroom daily.  She uses a whole brain teaching approach in which the students will hear the information, see the information, and say what they have learned about the information.  She enjoys watching different students find the way to learn that works best for them. She loves teaching her students and learning from her students.

Christie Marrs: This is year 20 of teaching in Albuquerque for Christie Marrs and it’s her second year at Zuni Elementary. She’s taught first grade for most of her career and definitely knows where her students need to be academically by May! She has a degree in English from UNM and holds a K-8 teaching license. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was raised there and in Taos, NM. She has a 13-year old son and enjoys music, art, swimming, reading and traveling. She is an active member on the Organizing Team at Albuquerque Teachers Federation (ATF/AFT NM) and considers students and parents to be the most important people in her job. She is active in politics and community organizing. She promises to advocate for her students and their families in any way she can and is not afraid to be outspoken and active when it comes to getting them what they need to succeed.  She believes in educating the whole child and integrates art, technology, music and writing into all aspects of the students’ school days. She is excited about the coming year and eager and ready to begin this important work under the new leadership of Glenn Wilcox! Here’s to a wonderful academic year, 2016-17, for the amazing Zuni Eagles!
