Extensive Services Gifted Program: Grades 4–5

Note to Families and Learners: Many of these supplies you already have at school from the last school year. Do not buy new replacements unless your supplies have been broken or lost. Use the old supplies as long as they last! This is a list of those items you should have; you will need to decide which items you need to re-purchase. The starred items probably will need to be replenished! Please bring your supplies to school on the first day! We do not use desks in the class, so the few personal items each student has will be kept in a shoebox. Please do not put student names on items that will be group items. Only list name on mechanical pencils, colored markers, binders and compass and protractor sets. We make special covers for binders and composition books, so do not names on these items.

  • 1 package of college-ruled 3-ring binder paper*
  • 1 package of photocopy paper
  • 1 composition book (sewn binding, not glued)
  • 5 1-inch binders
  • 2 packages of dividers
  • Grid paper, ¼-inch squares, for mathematics*
  • 3 boxes facial tissue
  • Protractor and compass set
  • White ‘magic rub’ eraser or a good gum eraser*
  • 2 packages yellow #2 pencils
  • One 9h drawing pencil, Venus brand is good, try Michael’s*
  • 3–4 red grading pencils
  • Pair of school scissors (pointed, but not too large)
  • 2 black fine-pointed, inking pens for illustrations (extra-fine Sharpie, for example)
  • 1 ruler, if possible metal
  • 1 large package of colored pencils*
  • 1 package of colored markers (preferably water-based)
  • 1 package 3 x 5 cards, with lines*
  • 4 glue sticks
  • 1 bottle of white glue
  • Zipper bags (gallon size–boys, quart size–girls)
  • 12 manila file folders
  • 2 rolls of adhesive tape for tape dispensers
  • Sharpie pens (fine): 1 fine, 1 ultra-fine
  • Sanitizing wipes for cleanup
  • 1 bottle of hand sanitizer or 1 bottle of liquid hand soap

We would like to increase the number of plants in the classroom (air quality and ambiance), so if anyone has plants s/he could propagate for us, we would be thrilled to have them—also pots to put these lovelies in. If you can provide these items, it will help us all.
